GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Since its inception the trust has promoted education mainly by way of scholarships and grants to deserving and needy students. Some of these were instituted way back in the mid 1950s while others were founded more recently, a proof of its continuous efforts to bring about social and economic development through a literate, enlightened and empowered populace.

K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad-The K C Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad is an interest free loan scholarship which is awarded to deserving graduates interested in pursuing their post graduate studies overseas. This scholarship has been ongoing since 1956. Announcement of the scholarship is done at the month of January in leading newspapers throughout India. Currently the maximum amount awarded per scholarship is Rs. 95,000/. From last year, KCMET has also announced the KC Mahindra Fellows Fund where the 3 most deserving candidates selected for the abovementioned scholarship are awarded an interest free loan scholarship ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 8 lacs, based on merit and need.

To be eligible, the candidate is required to possess a First Class degree or equivalent diploma of the same standard from a recognized university. The candidate must have secured admission or at least have applied for admission to a reputable university or institution abroad at the time of submission of the application form. The application form can be collected from our office at the end of January. Shortlisted students are called for the final interviews which are held in July. At the time of the interview you should have secured admission into the institute.

Mahindra Search for Talent Scholarship-
This was initiated in 1983. This scholarship has been ongoing in 35 educational institutions across the country with an objective to enthuse and reward excellence in academics. This scholarship is awarded to students obtaining the highest aggregate marks, based on the year end examination. Further a student who receives the Mahindra Search for Talent scholarship more than once, is awarded the ‘Honour scholarship’ which includes a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- and a citation from the Trust.

K.C. Mahindra UWC Scholarship-
This scholarship is offered to deserving students in the age group of 16 to 18 years. These students are given an opportunity to study at the United World Colleges. This scholarship aims to ensure that students benefit through the experience of international education, shared learning and community service which the Mahindra United World College is offering.

Mahindra All India Talent Scholarship-
This scholarship has been set up to specifically empower students from the under-privileged and disadvantaged sections of society. It is given to students belonging to lower income group families who wish to pursue a job oriented diploma course at a recognized Government Polytechnic. To be eligible for this scholarship, the students should have passed 10th / 12th Standard or equivalent examinations and have secured admission in government or any other recognized Polytechnic Institute for Diploma Courses in India. Majority of the awardees are girl students, as the Trust is keen in supporting girls and encouraging them to be qualified and subsequently reduce their vulnerability to exploitation and improve their standard of living. In 2005, the Mahindra Group decided to double the number of scholarships given to 600 every year. Through this scholarship each individual gets awarded Rs. 5000 per annum for a maximum period of three years.

The K. C. Mahindra Education Trust has also established several awards and scholarships for the academia. To build trust and further encourage teachers the Trust has set up the following:
The K. C. Mahindra Chair for Nuclear Chemistry at the Institute of Science in Mumbai and The Dhandevi Mahindra Scholarship Award at Sophia College, Mumbai.
The Kema Grants established in 1997 provides financial grants and scholarships to faculty members and staff of educational institutions.
